Bjaf Professional Silky Conditioner is a 300 ml conditioner you use in the bath, straight after the shampoo. It makes the coat soft, so the brush goes all the way down instead of getting stuck.

Why a conditioner does what a shampoo cannot

Shampoo is on the coat about 2 minutes and then most of it goes down the drain. A conditioner is made to stay behind. It sticks to the hair, most of all to the worn and rough parts. That is why the brush glides afterwards.

Ingredients, and what they do

Squalane: a light oil, close to the oil skin makes by itself. Softens the coat without leaving it greasy.
Macadamia oil: a nut oil that sinks in fast because it is close to the coat's own oils.
Jojoba oil: stays on the hair and keeps it bendy instead of brittle.
Hydrolysed keratin: hair is made of keratin. These small pieces stay on the coat after rinsing and smooth the surface.
Pro-vitamin B5: holds water inside the hair, so it bends instead of snapping.
Honey: pulls moisture into the coat and keeps it there.
Aloe vera: the gel from inside the leaf. Cools and moisturises the skin under the coat.

Also in the bottle: rice protein and chamomile.

Two minutes, and the tub does the waiting

Massage it in, leave it 2 to 3 minutes, rinse. No extra step after the bath, and no spray bottle to fight with.

Use less than you think

A small amount in the palm, spread from root to tip, is enough. Use too much, or rinse too little, and the coat dries flat and a bit sticky.

Wash and rinse first, twice if you can
Spread it through the wet coat, most of all on long or tangled areas
Leave it on 2 to 3 minutes
Rinse with lukewarm water until the water runs clear
Dry and brush

What to look for

In the bath: the coat feels slippery between your fingers
Once dry: the brush goes from the top of the coat to the bottom in one go
Over the next week: fewer knots in the same trouble spots

Which coats need it most

Long, curly and doodle coats: every bath. This is the product that keeps brushing bearable.
Double coats in shedding season: yes, it helps the loose undercoat come away.
Short smooth coats: optional, mostly for shine.

Conditioner or detangle spray?

This one does the heavier work, because it goes right through a wet coat and is then rinsed out. The Detangle Spray is for the brushing days in between. Most long-coat owners use both.

The rest of the routine

Wash with the Professional Silky Shampoo first. Brush little and often rather than once a week, with a long-toothed comb that reaches the base of the coat. Then finish every bath with the Silky Conditioner.
